Recreational Softball Information

GCKA offers a youth girls softball program for girls in Pre-K to 8th grade.

2024 Recreational Softball Information

· Registration opens 1/12 ends 3/22 - no late registration.

· Coaches will be assigned and will reach out to team members by April 5.

· Practices start the week of April 15.

· Season completed by end of June.

· Playoffs (for 10u, 12u, 14u divisions only) week following completion of regular season.

· Age divisions may be eliminated in the event of insufficient minimum registrations.

· Requests may be made to play up a division (no playing down a division).

· Age divisions are based on birth year and follow USSSA age guidelines. 

o 6u includes 2017, 2018 birth years

o 8u includes 2015, 2016 birth years

o 10u includes 2013, 2045 birth years

o 12u includes 2011, 2012 birth years

o 14u includes 2009, 2010 birth years

Season Format:

6u

· Practice once a week on weeknights until games start.

· Once games start, teams will play one game per week and will not practice.

8u

· One practice per week on weeknights.

· Games on Saturdays (some double-headers on Saturdays) and weeknights.

· Weeknight games could be scheduled on any night (M-F) and not just on teams regularly scheduled practice night.

· Rain out makeup games TBD.

10u, 12u, 14u

· Two practices per week on weeknights

· Games on Saturdays, including double-headers. Weeknight games possible.

· Rain out makeup games TBD.

· Playoffs following conclusion of regular season.

 Cost:

· 6u: $140/child

· 8u, 10u, 12u, 14u: $160/child

· Price Includes: uniform, games, and trophy.

Sponsor Information:

· Requested sponsorship of $250/team or $200/team if sponsoring multiple teams.

· Sponsored teams will have single color (white/black) logo of business sponsoring on team uniforms.

· Sponsorship money goes towards uniforms, umpires, field maintenance, and equipment.

· Sponsorship money is vital to keeping cost of league fees down for parents and purchasing necessary equipment for kids to build fundamentals of softball, have fun, and be safe doing so.

· GCKA is a non-profit organization.

· Sponsor checks can be made out to “GCKA” with “softball sponsor” in the memo line and can be dropped off at the GCKA office at Murfin Fields during office hours, left in the black lock box near the door, or picked up by a softball commissioner upon request.

 

Weather Policy

· If there is lightning or thunder all coaches, players, and parents need to exit the fields and proceed to their cars. There will be a 30-minute delay every time you see lightning.

· Practices and games may be canceled or rescheduled due to inclement weather. Decisions made by commissioner and maintenance staff based on field conditions.
