GCKA welcomes youth Lacrosse to Murfin Memorial fields!

Good evening, Grove City Kids Association families! We hope everyone is healthy and happy as we enter this New Year. Please read this email for information on upcoming registration for a new spring sport to be offered through GCKA!

GCKA is excited to announce that we have partnered with Grove City Lacrosse Club (GCLax) to transition the day-to-day management and operation of youth recreational lacrosse to GCKA!

Since its inception in September 2015, GCLax has had the mission of introducing the sport of lacrosse to Grove City and the South-Western communities, and to continually promote and foster youth development through participation in the sport of lacrosse. GCLax has promoted a focus on sportsmanship, self-esteem, and the development of life skills through engaging youth in sport. In just five seasons over six years, they have accomplished so much through community education events and activities, as well as the development and maintenance of youth recreational, middle school, and high school club teams.

We are encouraged by this spectacular growth; however, we know we can do more to support lacrosse in our community. By managing youth lacrosse through GCKA, we can emphasize and grow participation at the youth level, which encompasses kindergarten through sixth grade.

While lacrosse has only recently been introduced to our community, it is the fastest growing sport in the country! We openly encourage anyone interested in trying lacrosse to visit with coaches and leaders from GCLax at upcoming registration events. Watch our announcements for more information. The lacrosse season begins in late February with games played each Sunday afternoon April through May. Games are played in participating communities throughout Central Ohio, with home games to be hosted at Murfin Fields. Youth teams are organized by grade level, 3/4 and 5/6, and are open to both girls and boys.

With that, we are pleased to announce that registration for the 2022 youth lacrosse season will open Monday January 17th!!!  Registration for girls and boy’s 3rd through 6th grades will be made at www.gckasports.org. In addition, we will be having live registration at Murfin field Saturday January 22nd from 10:00am till 2:00pm and Sunday January 30th from 10:00am till 2:00pm. Rental helmets and equipment will be available at the live registration events.

We encourage you to learn more about the sport of lacrosse. You may do so by visiting Grove City Lacrosse Club at www.gclax.club, or the national organization for the sport, USA Lacrosse, at www.usalacrosse.com. If you have specific question please email Jason Wright at jasonwright7951@gmail.com.

Please watch for additional details in the coming days!
