A note from the commissioners:
The GCKA Softball season will begin registering soon!

2021 GCKA Girls Rec Softball registration will open April 5th!
Practices will start the week of June 21st.
Games will start the week July 26th.

*The league will follow all guidelines set forth by Gov. DeWine in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic.*

Please read through the website entirely as many questions you may have will be answered here. Rules and guidelines for the league listed on the website will be followed with no exceptions. Requests listed on registrations such as preferred practice nights/times or preferred coaches/players/teammates will be granted to the best of our ability but not outside of the guidelines listed on the site. A link is provided to the 2020 GCKA Softball rules at the end of this page.


Lastly, and most importantly, this is a recreational softball league. Coaches will be given guidance to ensure teaching, safety, and fun before competitiveness. Arguing with umpires, coaches, players, or spectators will not be tolerated. Violators will be asked to leave the fields and potentially banned.

Player Evaluations:

None

Practices:
Week of June 21, 2021 (dependent on weather and field conditions). 
Practices are generally Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur. They held 2 days a week and between the hours of 6:00-8:00pm.  Teams will continue to practice once games begin(ex. 2 practices and 2 games per week for grade 2-12).  All practices are at Murfin Fields. 
You will have a preference request on the registration and we will do our best to meet those requests.   Usually it is a lack of coaches on a requested day that prevents us from meeting all requests.  Please consider coaching a team!  We are ALWAYS looking for volunteers!
 

Games:
Games will begin around July 26, 2021 ending September 5, 2021(dependent on weather and field conditions). 

Season Format

6u

  • Practice twice a week on weeknights until games start
  • Once games start teams will play one game per week and practice once per week, both on weeknights only (No Saturday Games weather permitting)

8u

  • Two practices per week on weeknights
  • Games: one game on Saturdays
  • Rain out make up games TBD

10u, 12u, 14,u

  • Two practices per week on weeknights
  • Games are double headers on Saturdays
  • Rain out make up games TBD
  • Playoffs weekend of 9/4, 9/5

All games are held at Murfin Fields. 


2021 Schedules will be available HERE after registration is complete and umpires have been secured.

 
Pictures:
 TBD Usually the first or second week of games.
Uniforms:
 TBD- Uniforms are received just before games begin.
Please use clothing sizes as a general guideline and err on the larger size when uncertain.
Please order the larger if you are between sizes.
 
Equipment Needed:
 All required equipment with the exception of cleats, softball gloves, helmet with face mask and bats will be provided by GCKA.

Other equipment that you may be interested in purchasing but are NOT required include: chest guard.
 
Honoring Requests:
 A limit of 6 returning players on any one team. The coaches and assistants' children do count in this total.

After Registering:
A coach will contact you with specifics after June 14, 2021.  Some may call/email later than others, so don't panic.  Contact GCKA at the email below if you haven't been contacted by June 15, 2021. 

Volunteer Coaches:

Do you have a business or group interested in sponsoring a team?

Sponsor information

  • Requested sponsorship of $250/team or $200/team if sponsoring multiple teams
  • Sponsored teams will have single color (white/black) logo of business sponsoring on team uniforms
  • Sponsorship money goes towards uniforms, umpires, and equipment
  • Sponsorship money is vital to keeping cost of league fees down for parents and purchasing necessary equipment for kids to build fundamentals of softball, have fun, and be safe doing so.
  • GCKA is a non-profit organization your donation may be tax deductible. Please contact your tax professional.
  • Sponsor checks can be made out to “GCKA” with “softball sponsor” in the memo line and can be dropped off at the GCKA office at Murfin Fields during office hours, left in the black lock box near the door, or picked up by a softball commissioner upon request.
